Juvenile Diabetes

The disease is called juvenile diabetes and is considered as an autoimmune one. This is because the beta cells of the pancreas are destructed in juvenile diabetes. Any unknown reason may activate the damage of beta cells due to which insulin production does not take place in juvenile diabetes. Since there is absolutely no insulin in juvenile diabetes, the same is administered to the patient in injection or pump form. In addition to the normal symptoms of diabetes such as frequent urination, chronic thirsty feeling etc. the symptoms of juvenile diabetes may show laboured breathing, fatigue, and strong fruit-like odour from the breath, blurry vision etc. The child diagnosed with juvenile diabetes has to undergo strict medical treatment that includes an appropriate diet, medications including insulin, physical exercise, and constant checking of the blood glucose level as a common problem with juvenile diabetes is the risk of hypoglycemia. A leading frontrunner for juvenile diabetes research is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International that is extending support for research to get a cure to the various types of diabetes disorders. The foundation provides guidance to all those afflicted by diabetes. It counsels adults, teens, and children on how to face the challenges due to their disease.
